PDF floor plan to Drafto render

Most listing and sales packs start as PDFs. Upload a clear page, describe the look, and keep iterating in one project.

How do you turn a PDF floor plan into a render with Drafto? Upload a clear PDF (or a high-resolution page export), describe style and lighting in chat, generate a spatial or room view, compare against the source, then use Studio for region edits. CAD/BIM documents remain the authority for dimensions.

Steps

  1. 01

    Prepare a readable plan page

Use a page where walls and openings are legible. Crop away dense schedules if they obscure the plan. If the PDF is multi-page, upload the sheet that shows the unit or floor you need.

  2. 02

    Upload to Drafto chat

Start a project with the PDF or an exported PNG/JPG of that page. State whether you want a whole-plan overview or a specific room interior.

  3. 03

    Describe presentation settings

Name finishes, furniture density, and lighting. Explicitly ask to keep layout, wall positions, and openings from the plan.

  4. 04

    Validate and refine

Use Compare against the source. Open Studio to select flooring, furniture, or facade-adjacent zones when stakeholders request targeted changes.

Practical tips

  • Blurry scans and heavy watermarking reduce layout fidelity—prefer vector PDF exports from CAD when available.
  • For MLS or portal use, follow channel disclosure rules for rendered imagery.
  • Keep engineering PDFs as the source of truth; Drafto outputs are presentation visuals.

Questions

No. Drafto generates visualization outputs from the uploaded plan. It does not become your CAD or permit drawing tool.
